I created a visualisation of Ofgem’s Feed-in Tariff Installation Report to test out Excel 2016’s new 3D Maps feature. The FiT Installation report shows every generator in GB (England, Wales, and Scotland) that’s registered for FiT (mostly solar PV <5MW).
Three key observations:
- Excel is incredibly (surprisingly?) powerful for data analytics, especially with new features in recent versions;
- You can clearly see rushes to install and register before tariff changes (esp. Nov/Dec 2011 and Feb 2012);
- Not much has happened since deployment caps were introduced in Jan 2016.
